It’s been said that diamonds are "a girl’s best friend" and here is a list of the biggest sparklers that we could find. These ones are truly remarkable.

1. The Jonker (726 carats)

Discovered in the diamond mines of South Africa, this statuesque diamond is a beauty. Found in 1934 by a South African settler called Johannes Jacobus Jonker, the diamond was so big it was cut into smaller pieces and sold off. The net worth of the Jonker diamond is valued at around $3.7 million.

 2. The Vargas (726.6 carats)

Found in the Brazilian diamond mines in 1938, this exotic diamond was named after the Brazilian President at the time, Getúlio Dornelles Vargas. It is now in the possession of renowned American jeweller, Harry Winston.

 3. The Golden Jubilee (545 carats)

Owned by the Royal Family of Thailand and found in South Africa, this diamond was a rare find. Discovered in 1985, it took years before jewellers could find the perfect cut for this gem. It is also estimated to be worth a whopping $4 million.

4. The Millenium Star (777 carats)

Found in 1990, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, this diamond is legendary. The gem itself was able to yield a 202 carat cut diamond, making it one of the largest around. However,  it is the rare qualities that it possesses regarding quality, cut, and colour that really makes it special. The diamond is valued at $160 million.

5. The Excelsior Diamond (995 carats)

Found in 1893, this huge gemstone was cut into many smaller pieces. It was found in the home of most diamonds in the world, South Africa. The stone had a blue-white tint and weighed 995.2 metric carats (or 194 g). The largest gemstone cut from this famous diamond was only 69.68 carats but one of the diamonds from the Excelsior was sold for a record 2,642,000 USD!

6. The Cullinan diamond (3106.75 carats)

Another sparkler found in the diamond rich mines of South Africa, the Cullinan diamond is famous for being the largest gem quality diamond ever discovered.
Found in 1905, it was eventually cut into 9 large stones, from the original diamond. It was given as a gift to the King of England, King Edward VII, who had the Cullinan I and Cullinan II set into the head of the Sceptre with the Cross and Imperial State Crown (both form part of the Crown Jewels). The Cullinan I is 530.4 carats and is the largest polished white diamond in the world.
