7 MAN MADE WONDERS IN THE WORLD

1.  Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL ::

Christ The Redeemer, is  the tallest religious statues in the World.It is stacked at a whopping height of 98 ft and the statue's outstretched arms are 92 ft wide. The best time to visit it is a right when the  lights really illuminate it in the dark sky and the full grandeur of the moment can really be appreciated. The arms of Christ are to all who visit Brazil and from far away the statue looks like a huge cross - those clever architects.

2. The Great Wall of China, Beijing, China  :: 

The Great Wall of China took over 200 years to  build and is over 1500 miles long. The wall was built over 2000 years ago to protect China from invasion. Armies would be stationed along the wall, with an excellent view of any oncoming attacks. The great feat of ancient engineering is the longest  man made structure on the planet and can be seen from space.

3. The Taj Mahal, Agra, India  :;

Perhaps the greatest testament to love on the planet - unless you've got any others you are hiding. The Taj Mahal  was built by the Shah Jahan in the 17th Century as a memorial to his late wife. The structure made predominately of Marbel and took over 20 years to construct. It  has been described as one of the most beautiful structures on the face of the Earth and that stand as eternal love for all spectators.

4. The Golden Gate Bridge, San .Francisco, USA  :;

San Francisco's signature landmark. Opened in 1937, The Golden Bridge attracted to all from all over the World everyday. It is a wonder of modern engineering and really looks phenomenal at right. The bridge took roughly four years to build and cost approximately $30 million.

5. The Great Sphinx, Giza, Egypt  :

The Great Sphinx is situated in Giza, Egypt. The immense sculpture has the body of a lion and the head of a man - it is 240 long and 66 ft tall. Built in approximately 2500 BC, the Great Sphinx represents the might of the Pharaohs of Egypt.Due to the climate of Egypt, the Sphinx has been rapidly deteriorating over time - today a lot of the facial details are no longer present and despite various restoration attempts, the state of the Sphinx carries on getting  worse.

6. Angkor Wat, Cambodia  :: 

One of the most legendary temple complexes in the World, it was built by Khmer King Suryavarman in the 12th Century - it has also gained Hollywood fame after it featured in the film Tomb Raider. Lost for centuries in deep jungle, in 1860 the French explorer Henri Mouhot let the whole World know about this incredible man made marvel and a restoration project started here. It is now the most popular tourist attraction in Cambodia.

7. Teotihuacan, Mexico  ::

One of the most fascinating and visited archeological sites anywhere on earth, it is situated only 48 km from modern day Mexico City. The city is thought to have been established in 100 BC and lasted until 7th and8th Century BC. It was a  powerful center in mesa-America and its influence spread far and wide. At its peak it was the largest city of the time with approximately 125,000 people living there. Centuries after is decline, it became known as Birthplace of the Gods' by the Aztecs. Who built it and why it ceased to be are still hotly debated.
